Friday links..

As it’s Friday I’ve snipped a few links from the ever-popular b3ta.com… including this Japanese girl doing some mash-up dancing moves, which made me laugh quite uncontollably…. :) Hamster wheel of death. Don’t worry, the hamster is OK… :)http://www.flurl.com/uploaded/Ratrace_74924.html —– We don’t know what’s going on here but it made us laugh so much we nearly cried. Japanese game shows… Read more →

Australiaaaaa!

When I was in the USA and put amongst a group of people from all around the world who I’d never met before we fragmented into groups. The British, German, Australians and New Zealand dudes seemed to get on best with each other. Eventually I figured that it had something to do with our collective love of beer. So, although… Read more →

My carpet glows!

Y’know those lights in the aisles of planes that show you to the exit doors ? Well, here’s something similar for your house. This is carpet that…err… glows… a lot. In fact, it all glows, not just the edge but all of it. It doesn’t need electricity or batteries and works in a similar way to the “glow in the… Read more →

The best invention in the history of the world

Fridges were built to house beer – it’s a proven fact. However there’s a small minority of people who’ll argue that something called “food” needs to be put inside too. This impacts heavily on the space available for the beer and causes a great deal of argument in our house. So, it’s with great joy that I’ve found this rather… Read more →

A very expensive lesson

Driving down from Manchester this morning I thought it was about time I fixed that strange wheel wobble on the car. Let’s be honest here – although the “Highway Code” says something about ensuring you check your car before each journey – we rarely do. The Highway Code states… Take special care that lights, brakes, steering, exhaust system, seat belts,… Read more →

Hotels and Tipping

Hotels. They get on my tits at times. Last night I stopped in a certain hotel at Manchester Airport. Although it has a very posh name it really, really doesn’t live up to it. This particular chain of hotels is usually fantastic, but the one at Manchester Airport is a 1970’s relic with furniture and a sweet bleachy smell to… Read more →

Globe Trotting

I’m doing some serious globe-trotting right now. On Saturday night I was in foggy Telford. We went to this place – Frankie and Bennys. It’s a very family orientated restaurant with an American feel and I personally think it’s great for kids. Me and Em went with me brother and sister-in-law and their son. To be honest I loved it.… Read more →

Monday Morning Funnies

Good old B3ta.com is always a good place to find deranged photo-shopped pictures and jokes. Every Friday they publish a newsletter full of funny links. Here’s some of the best from this week.. “This is a message from the Estates Department at Durham University regarding the showers”” http://www.bornsloppy.co.uk/funny/shower_0685.jpg —– “I’m trying to replicate the General Lee, using thousands of toy cars… Read more →

Weird shop name

I was avoiding some roadworks this morning (they’ve ripped up the A5 near Cannock in Staffordshire) and had to go up this road… anyhow… I went past a shop, which is sort of pictured here. The yellow writing says….. “BOSTIN’ BAGUETTES” I think it’s a marvellous example of a French snack with a Black Country spin. :) Read more →

Born Slippy – What a track! But.. wait…

This is a CD which takes pride of place in my music collection. It’s Born Slippy by Underworld. It tore up the dancefloors all over the UK and beyond a while back and I first heard it after watching TrainSpotting at the cinema. The track didn’t really get a full release for a good while, but after getting played repeatedly… Read more →

Smoking Banned in Pubs, Clubs and Restaurants in the UK

You may remember well-reasoned arguments (ahem!) about the dangers of smoking and the apparent smoking ban we had before. The old ban basically said, “You can smoke here, but not over there on a Wednesday afternoon when the sun is shining”. It was impossible to enforce. So today, after months of “wrangling” (for that you should read “arguing”) the MP’s… Read more →

Massage Chairs

I’m sure you’ve seen these things dotted around in Motorway Services, Airports and shopping malls around the world. It’s a massage chair. If you’ve got aches and pains from all the walking / shopping then it’s just a matter of plonking a few coins in the slot and sitting down for a bit. The chair itself will massage and sooth… Read more →

DIY – I shouldn’t have even suggested it

On Sunday I had a brainwave. I decided that today would be the day to start redecorating our bedroom. Together we’ve redecorated every room in the house since moving in. First was the lounge, which was green when we moved in. Bear in mind here that when we bought the house (our first home together) we had nothing, so we… Read more →

Emails, Podcasts, Broken Laptops

A quick blog post just to keep you up to date. I’m still without my trusty laptop, so I’m currently working from webmail and several other PC’s dotted around the house and at work. Unfortunately this means that the postal addresses of the mad competition winners and many other emails I need to sort out are stored on my laptop,… Read more →

Laptop problem..

I use my laptop pretty much every day to run this site and, after lugging it around with me pretty much everywhere for the last 4 years, it’s showing some battle damage. I’ve got a Sony PCG-GRX616SP. It’s.. well, huge. It’s sold as a “desktop replacement laptop” and it shows. The 16 inch screen means that the footprint is massive… Read more →

Technical Support

Thursday ? You’re honestly telling me that it’s Thursday ? No way… where the hell is this week going ?! So far I’ve achieved absolutely bugger all. Meetings, phone and conference calls but hardly any “work” in my sense of the word. Technical support is something I end up doing a lot of in my job, which encompasses a lot… Read more →
