I can’t phone home

Everyone that moves house will no doubt have some sort of checklist. I’m steadily working through ours and I’ve ticked off the gas company, the electric company, the water company and many more. So far, so good I thought, and most of the “big” changes have gone smoothly. Ah, but now we get to the phone line. This is where… Read more →

Oh! I found a get rich quick scheme!

Somehow, after a bit of Googling for something completely different, I ended up on AmericaBlog.com. The site seems to dedicate itself to bringing “the truth” to the American people. There’s various stories which are well worth reading, such as the recent change in security to make sure that Europe provides America with information about religious beliefs and sexual orientation when… Read more →

On the move….

Over the last week I’ve been making more changes which should hopefully result in faster loading times across the site. Behind the scenes though there’s some big changes in my own life, and we’ll be moving house this week sometime. This means that the lovely fast Internet connection will be pulled out and it’ll no doubt take BT an age… Read more →

Errr.. It’s a new web application… honest.. :)

Here’s an iPhone on display in an Apple store. I use Unix quite a bit and recognise the “fsck” prompt, which is a disk check. :) Apparently a reboot fixes this problem – it seems to have gone into single user mode. Oh, and the picture was taken with an iPhone (yes, it is blurry). Link – poopforbrains.com Read more →

Jordan calls her new baby .. err.. Teababy or something

Jordan, in a move that is guaranteed to sell more copies of “Heat”, “Glamour” and every other paparazzi magazine available, has named her baby girl “Princess Tiaamii”. No, I’m not joking. Their second child together will have a name pronounced tee-ah-me. It’s apparently a mash-up of Peter Andre’s moms name Thea and Jordan’s mom, Amy. They’ve also chosen “Princess” because..… Read more →

Almost half of 999 calls are pointless

Sky News have just completed research into nuisance 999 (which is the Emergency Services number for the UK) call. 21 forces took part in the survey and they discovered that nearly half of all calls were unnecessary. In Strathclyde 85% of calls were not emergencies! Some callers asked about hedgehogs and cigarettes, whilst others called up for even more stupid… Read more →

Note to self – Never watch that Pearl Harbour film again

I’ve not watched this movie for quite some time and, to be honest, I’ve just remembered why. What a load of absolute rubbish. The flight sequences are great, but the excessive bravado, painfully over-writen script and idiotic lines like, “I think World War Two has just started” as the Japanese attack (this is set in 1941 by the way) is… Read more →

Where did the summer go?

What the hell is going on with our weather? Flood after flood after flood. It’s almost as if global warming has gone into overdrive… I mean sure, the ice caps may melt and flood large parts of the UK, but I honestly didn’t think we’d get a months worth of rain every few hours. This is going to sound a… Read more →

iPhone web app dangers

The Apple iPhone. It’s out now in the USA and the feedback, according to Apple, is “broadly positive”. There’s new applications for it and more are appearing daily. But, there’s a potential problem. Think about it – all of the apps have to be on the internet somewhere. They’re hosted on a web server. It could be any web server… Read more →

Rain, rain, rain, site tweaks, rain, rain.

Today, for a change, it rained. I’m beginning to think that summer 2007 is officially cancelled here in the UK because it has been completely rrrrrrrrrrrrrubbish. The weather forecasters have now started to say, “Good evening.. ermm.. no, this isn’t a recording but…..” Rain… then tomorrow, it’ll rain. Then the next day things are looking up because it’ll rain slightly… Read more →

Victoria Beckham – Please STAY in America!

OK, so tonight we’re watching the Victoria Beckham thing. It’s all about their move to America following Davids’ move to LA Galaxy. According to the introduction the programme “looks at Victoria as she prepares for David and the children to arrive”. Well, what can I say? Victoria… stay there, please. Don’t come back. I’ve never seen such a stuck up,… Read more →

Funny iPhone Videos

The whole iPhone thing can be both good and bad at the same time. I think there’s a lot that Windows Mobile can take from the iPhone user experience and features included as part of the standard build, however it’s not good that the iPhone doesn’t allow third-party software. These two videos are particularly good. Firstly it’s an iPhone commercial…… Read more →

Thanks to the guys at Burntwood Tyres

Following the rather unfortunate incident with a pothole and my sudden need to get yet more tyres, I must give a plug to the guys at Burntwood Tyres. They’re based literally 500 yards from our house so they’re very convenient, especially when you’ve got two flat tyres on the left side of your car and can’t go very far! Not… Read more →

Bush seen as more dangerous than Kim Jong-il

This news story actually appeared last year but has bounced back onto the internet thanks to reddit.com. The study reveals that America is now seen as a threat to world peace by its closest neighbours and allies. Brits seem to think that George Bush is more dangerous than Kim Jong-il… It’s not so much the story that’s interesting, but rather… Read more →

Tyres are not cheap!

Oh dear. Just a week after gettin two new rear tyres for the car (a rear wheel drive like mine seems to eat rubber), Emily went over a pothole and burst not one… But BOTH the front left and rear left tyres! The rear left one was brand new – I paid 100 quid for it last week and now… Read more →

Brownhills Market – Still the same as always

We went to Brownhills again this weekend and ended up walking around the infamous Brownhills Market. It’s still the same as it’s ever been, despite several checks by Police and Councillors there’s still more illegal stuff than ever being sold in Brownhills Market. We found knock-off clothing, second-hand shoes (some with socks still in them) and, yes, the guys selling… Read more →

Dallas lady + $15,000 = Stupidity

AGH! I just can’t get away from that damned iPhone! Every part of me says, “No, don’t mention it again”, so from now on I’m going to call it “that black fruit-based phone”. I have to show you guys this daft woman who obviously has a lot more money than sense. Armed with stacks of cash she buys the first… Read more →

It’s still raining…

Here in the UK it’s been raining none-stop for what seems like four months. There’s floods, floods and yet more floods. Everyone is flippin’ miserable and we’ll no doubt be running around in shorts the minute the sun pops its’ little head out. So, I give you this video. A lot of roads have been flooded and you’ve already seen… Read more →

Fancy a new job?

Fancy a new job? How about being a condom tester?. Durex are after 200 couples to test these… I’m not sure whether you’ll be able to get any money back if a test doesn’t go exactly as planned though… :) Durex are serious about the tests, but they can see the funny side. Durex marketing manager Sam White said…. “With… Read more →
